About this tool
Email bounces anything interesting, chat apps compress your images, and most file-sending sites want the person receiving it to sign up for something. This gives you a link. Drop a file in, choose how long the link should last, add a password if the file is not for everyone, and send it. The person at the other end sees a page with the filename, the size, and a download button — no account, no app, nothing to install. Every link has an end date, because a file you sent once and forgot about should not still be sitting on the internet a year later. The longest is thirty days and there is no permanent option, deliberately. You can stop any link before then from your files page, which also shows how many times each one has been opened. If somebody is sent something they should not have been, there is a report button on the page itself that stops the link immediately — for everyone, without waiting on us. Sharing is part of Pro, because a public link on our domain should belong to an account we can identify. Everything else on this site works without one.
Frequently asked questions
Does the person receiving it need an account?
No. They open the link, see what the file is, and download it. No sign-up, no app, nothing to install — which is the whole point of sending a link rather than attaching something.
Can I stop a link after sending it?
Yes, at any time, from My files. Each link shows when it expires and how many times it has been opened, with a Stop button beside it. Stopping one link leaves any others for the same file working.
Why is there no permanent link?
Because the failure mode of "forever" is not that it is long — it is that a link you sent once and forgot keeps serving a file for years, and the only thing that ever stops it is remembering it exists. Thirty days is the longest, and everything expires on its own.
What does the password actually protect?
It stops somebody who merely has the link from opening the file. It is hashed, never stored as you typed it. It does not stop the person you sent it to from keeping the file once they have opened it — nothing can, and any tool claiming otherwise is describing a hope rather than a mechanism.
Why does this one need Pro when everything else is free?
Because it is the only thing here that publishes: a link on our domain, serving a file, to anybody who has the URL. Keeping it behind a subscription means every public link belongs to an account with a payment method attached, which is what makes it possible to offer at all.
What if I am sent something I should not have been?
There is a report button on the page, outside the password prompt so you can use it without opening the file. One confirmation stops the link immediately, for everybody holding it, with no queue and no waiting on us.
