About this tool
This is a PDF to Word converter that runs inside your own browser tab. Choose a PDF, press convert, and you get back a .docx file you can open in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or Pages and edit like anything else you wrote yourself. It works from the text layer of the PDF — the actual characters stored in the file, along with the size and position of every one of them. That is what lets it tell a heading from a paragraph, spot where one paragraph ends and the next begins, recognise a bulleted list, and put bold and italic back where they were. The result is a document with real structure, not one enormous block of text or a page of text boxes you cannot type in. What it does not do is repaint the page. If you need a pixel-perfect copy of a designed layout, you want the original file, not a conversion. What you get here is the words, in the right order, in a shape you can rewrite. The file never leaves your device. Converting a PDF to Word is exactly the kind of job where that matters — contracts, statements, applications and letters are what people convert — and here there is no upload to trust, because there is no upload.

Is this PDF to Word converter really free?

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser tab using your own machine. The file is never sent to us or to anyone else, which you can confirm by turning off your internet connection after the page has loaded — the tool still works.
Will the Word document look exactly like the PDF?
No, and that is deliberate. This rebuilds the document as editable text — headings, paragraphs, lists, bold and italic — rather than trying to repaint the page. A converter that reproduces the look usually does it with fixed text boxes, which are miserable to edit. If you want to change the words, this is the more useful result.
Why does it say there is no text to convert?
Because the PDF is a scan or a photo. A scanned page is a picture of text, with no characters stored in the file, so there is nothing to convert into a Word document. You need OCR first — our image to text tool reads the words out of a picture, and you can paste those into Word.
Are images and tables carried over?
No. This converts the text and its structure. Pictures are left behind, and a table comes across as its text rather than as a Word table, because a PDF does not record that its rows are a table — it records where each word was printed.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Not while it is protected. Open it in a PDF reader with the password, save an unprotected copy, and convert that.
What file do I actually get?
A .docx file — the modern Word format, which Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice Writer, Apple Pages and Office Online all open directly.
